I think the biggest thing with Mance is that if he had, "bent the knee," none of the Wildlings would have followed him afterwards. He said they followed him out of respect, not loyalty. His leadership had been earned, and it could be lost just as easily. Mance might have lived, but Stannis wouldn't have gained any of the wildlings as a result. That would have left them with a brand new problem. Tens of thousands of Wildlings, and no one person in charge.
On the flip side, with Mance dead, you're kind of in the same position.

I can finally comment this: one of my favorite things was how close Arya was to being safe. Arya misses the deaths of both her brother and mother by minutes and her aunt dies not long before she arrives. Which is wild because Sansa is still there. This is season 5 and Arya hasn't seen a single family member since season 1 and the last relation she saw was her father at his execution. I like how brutal that is as a story telling device. There are people who know Bran is alive, but no one knew Arya even survived. Brianne coming across them was an insane bit of luck, but Arya by now is wary. She's developed a knack for survival.

Sadly, you are approaching the point where the show ran out of book material, and the quality of storytelling, the logic of character decision-making, and the logistics of high-speed long-distance travel fall off considerably. Hopefully you guys will still enjoy it without any frame of reference. As someone who got VERY into this world with the books, I haven't been able to re-vist Seasons 6-8 because they left such a bad taste in my mouth.
i have to say i like the story they did. the problems were 1. they reinvented plott armor 2. they rushed the story and 3. some episodes was horrible shot ... but the story itself i rly like

A quick reminder that they mentioned before that dragons meant to be free and not chained so back then when they chained dragons they stoped growing that the last dragon if i remember correctly had a skull the size of a cat. thats why Drogon looks bigger than the other 2 cause he been free longer
Tbf Drogon was already bigger than the other two, which is why he was the one who lashed out first, went out on his own first, and killed a kid first. But yeah, once she locked them up that size difference became even more drastic
