Ahhh the red wedding when everybody realizes that OHHH SHIT THIS THAT GOOD SHIT!
Fun fact, in the books all the Stark children are wargs to varying degrees and have dreams similar to Bran of hunting as a wolf. A common theory is that as he died Robb instinctively tried to warg into his wolf Grey Wind. I think they figured only having one Stark have the ability in the show streamlined it more and made Bran's arc more unique.
I'll never forgive completely cutting Arya's wolf dreams. They completely butchered my favorite character in season 5.
* The North will remember that... *
this episode is why you all have this career
what i mean is that this episode started reaction videos on youtube after this aried people started uploading their friends reactions on youtube and a whole genre of movie/tv/music reactions was born
in the books theres an even more diabolical aspect to the Red Wedding. Robb marries the daughter of a Westerlands lord named Jenye Westerling in the books and Robbs mother in law plays the fuck out of Robb and her daughter by conspiring with Tywin to kill Robb by acting like she wants her to get pregnant but giving her some plant to make sure she doesnt, feeding Tywin information on Robbs war effort, iirc she played a part in getting him to go back to Walder Frey for help and makes sure her daughter doesnt stays behind.
the wedding was lovely, the reception got a bit out of hand though
Also that was actually one of Walder Freys daughters, its been awhile but in the books i thnk Roslin Frey was the one Robb was supposed to marry could be wrong about that part though
If I had to show someone who had never seen GoT any one episode to encapsulate what made the series that had the world on edge during its prime it would be this episode. To me this is THE Game of Thrones episode.
I think this is why the diamond Billys were so impatient this week. We were all waiting for this one
Legit, this is why I got the diamond sub this month
Me too I couldn't wait
I'm so sorry, Billy. This was a canon event—we could not interfere.
The year is 2025 and through luck we have two men who have no knowledge of the Red Wedding, so fun to see a first time reaction after all these years. Love to see it still hitting as hard as the first time I watched it. Can’t wait for more GoT, hope you guys go all the way with it and onto House of the Dragon.
I’m so excited that we made it to this point and I’m even more amazed that it wasn’t spoiled for you early on cuz that was A REACTION
"Respect to the uncle though"
It's become kind of a meme over the years that Edmure Tully is a true chad, but it's true. He's been in the right every time the characters give him shit for it; even in that scene where Robb berates him for letting the Mountain get away because he wanted to trap him (I like the scene btw, but) it's like, well you should have told him that if you wanted him to try not to make him flee. In the books Catelyn berates him for letting the peasants into Riverrun Castle because he wanted to protect his people and he doesn't budge. Better man than the characters treat him as at the very least.
I always love watching the Rob dick-riders get their day ruined lol
Are you ok?
Huh?
Robb my favorite char, the worst episode of anything ever
Walder Frey broke one of the most unforgivable social customs and laws that throughout even our history has held true.
To welcome one into your house, give them food and drink and bring them under your protection. It’s something soo ingrained in many cultures that you wouldn’t even deny your enemies your hospitality.
We have a saying in my country that basically translates to “you’d give a man food and a bed even if he carried another man’s head”
FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I saw this years ago and it's still a fucking mind fuck.... FUCK.
“You’re almost there and you’re afraid you won’t make it. The closer you get, the worse the fear gets.”
We in the business call this waiting for the sixth book.
Rob learned what house Boltons words “our blades are sharp” meant
I really didn’t want to watch this again for trauma reasons but I wanted to see your reactions haha
Ah yes the red wedding this episode made me so mad
When this was first airing, all the book readers were eagerly waiting for when the show got to the Red Wedding and fucked up all the non-book readers :D
Jaime told Lord Bolton to give the Starks his regards when Bolton told him he was going to the wedding, and he did when he betrayed them and killed Robb.
This ep made me stop watching for 3 years. It’s a doozy.
Congratulations, you’re no longer sweet summer children.
Back in Season 1 Sam tells Jon that he always wanted to be a wizard, and it makes that moment between him and Gilly even more sweet.
Stop I'm gonna cry
I had to skip to the end just to get it over with. This episode is lifelong trauma in a hour.
Well here we fucking are! This episode is the one that started the whole "reaction" thing online -- people would film their friends and family seeing GOT for the first time watch this episode in utter shock and horror. Truly an iconic piece of television.
Well, TV reactions taking off started here at least. React content to music, youtube videos etc. precede this. I also think this might have incentivized some production studios to think allowing reactions to their shows might be good for marketing.
This episode is the reason so many people bought diamond tier and were complaining about releases. This episode is the reason reaction content is what it is today. Glad you guys were able to experience it without spoilers or hints.
Do you honestly think they didn't know about this? Like genuinely in your heart of hearts?
Honestly I do. Their reactions seemed genuine.
a lot of people arent in the same spaces as others. I never got the walking dead season 7 episode 1 spoiled for me even after years. and that was on the same popularly level as the red wedding.
Congratulations, you are no longer sweet summer children. You are now men of winter.
GRRM said the Red Wedding was the hardest thing he ever wrote.
Rip my boy Robb Stark
It hits SO. DAMN. HARD. Every time...
Just FYI the dagger sam had was dragonglass, it was in the bag they found at the fist of the first men, there's several of them. Also HOOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIEEEEET welcome to the club gents.
ah, the trauma of the red wedding
So remember all those scenes Tywin was writing letters while in his study, he was coordinating with Lords Bolton and Frey... Also his complete disregard of Robb Stark as a factor when he and Tyrion were discussing how Sansa is the key to the north...
Welcome to Winter, dear Children of Summer.
rob stark was one of the names the red priestess said when she dropped the leach in the fire
In her final moments catlyn stark thought everyone of her children had died
They don't call it The Red Wedding cause of the wine XD
the uncle didnt get to pick, robb did
Congratulations, men of winter you have become. Boys of summer not anymore.
Hope you guys realize how many people have been waiting for you to get to this episode. Now you see why.
ahh shit here we go again- me every time I watch 3x09
