"fuck the bridge" 😬😬😬😬
So there are a few reasons they used to pillage and worse when a city was taken. One is that cities are more inclined to surrender without fighting back if the cost of fighting back and losing is the worst. Two, it's become the norm because of this and the soldiers expect to be allowed to do it, one of the reasons people enlisted as soldiers is to be allowed to loot, it's probably the best way to earn significant amounts of money. And three, pre-modern battles aren't fought to the death, they are psychological contests fought until one side can't take it anymore and breaks (most of the deaths happen when that side starts running away), so the winning side is now thousands of men brought near to their own breaking point and kept there for hours; good luck telling them no just because you want to do the moral thing.
Disappointing yall didn't listen to the credits song.
Just a heads-up: the intros you guys sometimes skip, do indeed occasionally reveal new parts of the map, tied to where the characters are in that episode. Also, the music during the credits can drop hints or extra story details about the episode, the next one, or even the upcoming season. I can recall (no spoilers) one time when the end credits of a season finale included two seperate muscial themes mixed together, which forshadowed quite a lot for the next season.
Man, I love how much you both love this show. You aren't just watching to watch it; you watch the show with purpose. It allows you to put different story points together. I have found this to be a rare quality of reactors, at least over the last 10-11 years I have been watching reactions. Huge props!
little disappointed you guys didn't listen to the full credits song
2:20 Thats literally why they are attracted to each other, and yes they did start to fuck back when they were children. The books do a good job of explaining their love for each other. But essentially, its because its like theyre fucking themselves.
Book or show, Stannis will always be my favorite character. His brainwashing by the red woman only deepens my fascination with his character, it is such a relatable situation that you cant help but to accept it as a flaw and love him all the same.
stannis the mannis with a plannis
Fun fact: the term decimate means to destroy 1/10th, not a synonym for obliterate/destroy. The reason the term seems like a great deal of destruction is because when an old fashioned army lost 10% of it's troops, it was a big enough loss that the army would sound a retreat. Any more fighting would hurt morale and leave them vulnerable to reinforcements. So when Stannis's men watched their ships get decimated, it was bad enough that they should have fallen back to regroup and form a new plan.
Theon didn't actually sleep with his sister
The song at the end of episode 9 is “The Rains of Castamere” bit of a long story and not sure if I’ll get this all correct but basically it’s a well known song in the world about Tywin’s destruction of House Reyne of Castamere during the time where House Lannister wasn’t as prominent. As said by Tywin when talking about his father and how Tywin grew the house into what it is now. And now serves as basically a threat to any who oppose them.
It’s also a very well known song by fans of the show… for other reasons.
In season 1, as soon as Daenerys(Khaleesi) got pregnant Jorah was the one who sent a message informing King Robert. That’s why later on she was about to be poisoned by that wine merchant and a boy pulled Jorah aside and told him he was pardoned of his past crimes. He regretted it immediately and saved her.
That’s the betrayal the masked woman was talking about in this episode.
Maybe you could watch the "A land before time" Animated movie series. Its an old classic
in the books, it’s implied that the Kingsguard member who cut Tyrion was most likely sent to assassinate him by order of Cersei and make it look like an accident in the battle
Update on Jack Gleeson - The actor that played Joffrey - He only took a break, hoping to go back to school, but instead he went to the stage and returned movies and TV around 2020. I believe him and the actor that played Theon are in a TV show called Safe Harbor that aired this year, too.
The scene between Cersei and Tyrion at the dinner reminded me of that Sesame Street scene where Elmo has Tyrion and Cersei talk out their differences. Y'all should react to that (but I think that'll need to be watched after Season 7 to avoid spoilers)
Yo! WTF, the actress who plays Talisa is Charlie Chaplin's Granddaughter
SHE SAID THE THING! Take a shot every time she says the thing! "You know nothing, Jon Snow"
Truly an iconic line, like there are even those who haven't seen the show but know that line is from GOT. That and "dracarys" lol
Cersei was gonna poison Tommen because she knew Stannis was 100% going to kill Tommen. Stannis is pretty uncompromising with how the rules of his world works (one of the many reasons why some fans think he has ASD or is autistic-coded), so he was likely going to be merciless to the family who usurped his throne.
MAJOR spoilers for season 3 up to season 8-

Jaime killing Alton has got be one of the most infuriating changes from the book. turning himself into a kinslayer for a stupid escape plan and then never mentioning it again feels like pretty good foreshadowing to how often D&D would make consequence-free stories in later seasons
