   I think part of the reason a lot of the early episodes are so rapid-fire is cause they were made back when Youtube had a biiiiig(by which I mean itty bitty) max length limit on how long videos could usually be. A lot of the first season and even I think some of season 2 vids are like 7-9 minutes and a lot tries to get crammed in to that timeline. Once the episodes start getting longer the pacing of the episodes will feel a lot better. CannonFire is right, you dont *have* to know literally anything about the Dragonball series to watch DBZA but there will definitely be some references and moments that go over y'alls heads for not knowing where the joke comes from

   Yeah, it should be fine to watch this without watching the original anime. It will slow down, and get better in the second season, as TeamFourStar got generally better at doing this over time, and you see the increase in production value. But you are also missing context from the original Dragonball series, the one before Dragonball Z. But not a lot. The only context you're missing is who Piccolo is and why everyone is on edge around him at first, and the fact that Krillin died once in Dragonball, and it was a whole thing. Piccolo was a major villain in Dragonball, or at least his father was. This Piccolo is technically Piccolo Jr. His father took over the planet as a dictator for a short while before Goku dragon punched a hole in his chest. And Piccolo Jr swore revenge on Goku. But that revenge kinda ends up being side lined after they fight once, and then Dragonball Z starts, and he basically just becomes one of the good guys trying to keep the planet from being destroyed every other week.

   It gets better in the later episodes and less rapid fire without being overwhelmed by the filler cause the original had a massive chunk in filler.

   Oh, Dragon Ball Z Abridged is very much NOT the first Abridged series. It was made by experienced Abridgers. MasakoX and Vegeta3986 did Naruto Abridged. Lanipator did Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged, Megami33 did Sailor Moon Abridged, HBI2k did Berserk Abridged plus several others, Takahata101 did G Gundam Abridged, KaiserNeko did Lupin the 3rd Abridged.

   The first abridged series was Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series by Little Kuriboh, which started in 2006, and is amusingly the only abridged series of that entire list that's still continuing (it's in the last filler arc before the final story of the original series).

    hopefully abridged gets yall hooked in enough to watch the actual series as a reaction or maybe in your own time some day, abridged is great but boom could attest to how great the actual series is, enough rambling from me tho i hope y'all enjoy abridged
