One thing I really like about this episode is that The Doctor doesn't actually help or save the Ood. They win their own freedom and he's pretty much there as an observer cheering them on.
funny how she always thinks its "boss girl" but its more often like this, the PR lady was like the WORST of them all ... only cared for herself her job and not gave 1 second about anyone else
"I've never understood being so self-conscious about your hair"
Meanwhile you guys in every movie: Bald! He must be evil!
Obviously you guys are joking when you're saying that, but it does highlight the fact that media and our culture paints baldness as a negative thing. And when everything you see tells you that being bald is bad and a trademark of villains, it's easy for that messaging to seep into your perception about yourself and manifest as self-consciousness.
I think the Doctor and his companions are a little bit like us and you guys. He's experienced so much of the universe that he wants to take someone along to live vicariously through their reactions.
One of my favorite episodes
