The Master, Daleks, and Cybermen take up like half of classic Doctor Who
Martha is my favorite companion and it was soul crushing having to live through all the hate first go round. So glad the nitpicks you had about Rose are the same I had. I don't hate Rose, I just don't understand how people could elevate her to sainthood within the ranks of the companions and in the same breath just straight drag Martha for even finding Ten attractive.
Martha was and still is one of the best companions, pouring one out for homegirl, glad she left instead of being forced to not travel anymore. Also Freema was easily one of the best Dr Who actors.
Gods, watching this back the music is SUCH a tell.
So glad Martha left on her own accord, the Doctor did not deserve her at all for how the way treated her, trapping her in eras where she was incredibly unsafe AND then depending on her to work being at the top of the list. I don't care what anyone else says, Francine (her mom) was absolutely in the right to be so protective of her against him, especially when you look at it from her perspective.
On this rewatch I've been approaching it from a more neutral perspective, trying not to have a bias for the Doctor and viewing him as a good person just because he's the main character and the show is more or less from his perspective. And I'm struck by how much he's like a god just playing with his world. He kind of seems to think of humans like pets. He cares for them, and is strongly attached to some of them, but their lives aren't as important as the "higher beings". His pacifist approach with the Master nearly cost the Universe, and even after all the death and torture that the Master committed, he still prioritized him over humanity.
The Master is one of Who's best reoccurring characters.
It is so rewarding that the four drums have been in the intro this whole time.
